Highlights from the Hopwood Library Book Collection

The Hopwood Library, UPMC Shadyside: A Health Resource Center for Patients and Families, provides resources based on the philosophy that patients will live healthier lives when they have access to current and accurate medical information.

Books for the Hopwood Library are carefully selected and reviewed by Michelle Burda, HSLS consumer health librarian. As you browse the shelves you will find more than 1000 books on diseases and their treatments, parenting, prevention and wellness, nutrition, and cookbooks, as well as some of the latest best sellers in health and medicine.

The titles below are a sample of books in the Hopwood Library collection, located in the UPMC Shadyside Medical Building. You can search the complete HSLS consumer health information collection for books, pamphlets, videos and audiotapes by using the online catalog PITTCat for the Consumer <kittycat.hsls.pitt.edu>, or you may use the quick link from the HSLS Consumer Health Information page <www.hsls.pitt.edu/guides/chi/>.
