New HSLS Classes Highlight Specialized Information Resources

HSLS Librarians have developed new library instruction classes designed to highlight online information resources in areas of interest to specific user groups. In addition to our classes on how to search Ovid MEDLINE and PubMed, we now offer a series of “special topics” classes, which highlight major information resources for groups such as clinicians, basic science researchers, mental health professionals and others. Also, a series of three workshops to introduce researchers to online molecular biology and genetics resources is offered by Ansuman Chattopadhay, PhD, Molecular Biology and Information Specialist for HSLS. All special topics courses are approved for AMA Category 2 CME credit.

Descriptions of classes are below. For complete information about the HSLS instruction program, including class schedules and locations, please visit <www.hsls.pitt.edu/services/ instruction>. Seating for classes is first-come, first served until the class is full. There is no charge and no registration is required.

Including the many specialized classes taught in the six Schools of the Health Sciences and UPMC departments by liaison librarians, HSLS now offers over 350 classes annually. If you want to schedule a customized class for your department or course, please call 412-648-8796 or send e-mail to medlibq@pitt.edu.
