HSLS Now Delivers BooksMany of the 30,000+ UPMC and University of Pittsburgh library users work or live in locations that are not convenient to our physical library facilities. To address this reality, HSLS Document Delivery Services now offers a new service - books-by-mail right to your home or office. We can deliver books via UPS or via the Pitt or UPMC interoffice mail system. We can deliver most published books, whether they are in HSLS libraries, in other Pitt libraries, or obtained from outside the University through interlibrary loan. There is a fee for this service, but HSLS subsidizes the majority of the costs involved. For UPS delivery, aprepaid return label is included with the book. To return a book, simply pack it, attach the mailing label, and call UPS to pick it up. To make ordering books and copies a little easier, there are now two separate request forms on the HSLS Web site – one for books and one for copies of articles, chapters and other documents. Depending on how far away you are, how much time you have, and whether you need to make a special trip to the library just to pick up a book, this service may be less expensive than the gas and parking fees it takes to visit the library in person!
