Health Sciences Government Publications Added to HSLS E-Collection

The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) is responsible for the production and distribution of information products and services for all three branches of the federal government. GPO's mission is to ensure that the American public has access to government information. Although more than 275,000 federal government document titles are available to the public via the Internet, library users are often unaware of them.

In an effort to make online government publications more readily apparent to library users, HSLS has started adding MARCIVE cataloging to PITTCat for freely available government documents in broad subject areas of the health sciences. Integrating these publications into the local online catalog allows straightforward access to the full text documents via a PITTCat for the Health Sciences subject, author or keyword search simply by clicking the HSL Online contained in the record. Or, if you prefer to browse all GPO documents that are currently available in PITTCat, search by "call number" for the phrase HSL Online Documents.
