Congressional Research Service Reports Available

The Congressional Research Service(CRS) is the public policy research arm of the United States Congress. As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, CRS works exclusively for members of Congress to provide comprehensive analysis, research, and information services.

The reports produced by CRS do not become public until a member of Congress releases the report. A number of libraries and non-profit organizations have sought to collect as many of the released reports as possible. Open CRS is a new Web site <www.opencrs.com/> that brings together these collections to make previously restricted CRS research results more readily available to the public.
Recently released reports of interest to the health sciences community include:

  • Federal Protection for Human Research Subjects: An Analysis of the Common Rule and Its Interactions with FDA Regulations and the HIPAA Privacy Rule (June 2, 2005) <www.fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/RL32909.pdf>
