Jonathon Erlen, history of medicine librarian, published “Dissertations list” in the History of Science Society Newsletter 35(1): 19, 2005; “Dissertations in the history of pharmacy” in Pharmacy in History, 47(3): 121, 2005; and “New dissertations” in Nursing History Review, 14: 291-296, 2006. Erlen also served as a contributor to ISIS Current Bibliography of the History of Science and Its Cultural Influences 2005, Toronto:York University, 2006. NEWSMichele Klein Fedyshin, UPMC Shadyside manager of library services, has been invited to be a member of the newly formed National Library of Medicine (NLM) Long Range Planning Committee. She will serve on a panel for NLM Health Information for Underserved and Diverse Populations in the 21st Century. As part of this panel, Klein Fedyshin will be contributing to two work groups: Integrate Disaster and Emergency Response Information Locally and Nationally; and Explore New Informatics Training Models for Europe, Africa and Developing Nations. The Committee will make goal recommendations to NLM for the next Long Range Plan. PRESENTATIONSJonathon Erlen, history of medicine librarian, presented “Human Experimentation in 20th Century American Medicine: Myths and Realities” at the University of San Diego Honors College on January 27, 2006, and at the Upstate New York Colloquium for the History of Science and Medicine, SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY on March 2, 2006. |
