Images.MD Provides GraphicsLooking for high quality medical images for creating lectures, Web sites, or PowerPoint presentations? To ease the search, HSLS provides the Images.MD collection via BioMed Central. Images.MD contains more than 50,000 medical images from more than 90 collections gathered from the Current Medicine series of illustrated atlases. Images.MD is available from the HSLS Database by Title Web page at <www.hsls.pitt.edu/resources/databases/titles>. Recent updates to Images.MD include: • Cardiovascular Risk Factors: 750+ images dealing with major causative factors for heart disease and other forms of cardiovascular disease, as well as strategies to reduce the risk associated with these factors. • A revised nuclear cardiology collection with 331 new images, plus updates to more than 35 other images. • 350 new images added to the prostate collection. The site is easy to navigate and provides for either quick or detailed searches. Begin by creating a personal Images.MD account in order to obtain access to the My Slides software. My Slides features editing tools and the ability to send images via a PowerPoint attachment. Once you locate the perfect images, they may be used for non-commercial pursposes such as class handouts, lectures, and PowerPoint presentations, as well as on password-protected educational Web sites. --Fran Yarger |
