WPIC Library Computing Facilities Expand

The computing facilities in the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) Library have recently been expanded to better serve the WPIC community. Additional PCs, software, and technical capabilities have been installed as part of the renovation. The expanded lab is located on the main floor of the library, in the former audiovisual area.

New technology includes:
• Nine Dell Optiplex SX280 PCs each equipped with LCD monitor, CD-ROM burner/DVD player, and easily accessible USB port
•  Software, including:
-Windows Office 2003 (Word,PowerPoint, Access and Excel)
 -Photoshop CS
 -EndNote
•  Two flatbed Epson scanners
•  Internet access via a HSLS account
•  E-mail access via the UPMC Web client and <http://my.pitt.edu>
•  USB flash drives that can be used to move information to your office or home computer. (HSLS libraries loan USB flashdrives for a 24-hour period to patrons with a valid University of Pittsburgh ID or HSLS library card.)
•  Printing (black and white), with the option to send print jobs to the color printer in the Falk Library Computer and Media Center, where jobs can be retrieved. Please note that HSLS copy cards are required for printing in any HSLS computing lab.

Equipment for viewing audiovisual materials has been relocated to the former computing area, near the reference desk on the main floor of the library.
