Welcome to Marie Elia, SIS-HSLS Partners Program intern, and Jingya Liu, SIS-HSLS field placement student. Elia and Liu are working toward MLIS degrees in Pitt's School of Information Sciences.
Congratulations and farewell to Jen Griffith, circulation specialist, who earned her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh School of Information Sciences in June. Griffith will be leaving HSLS to work as a children's librarian at the Sewickley Public Library.
John Siegel, reference librarian, was appointed to a Medical Library Association Dental Section Committee to re-evaluate the Harriet Steuernagel Fund and the Steuernagel Award, which recognizes health sciences librarians who have contributed to the Dental Section through professional activities and service.
Charles B. Wessel, coordinator of Affiliated Hospital Services, will act as an advisor for a McMaster University Evidence Based Research Practice Center systematic review. The systematic review will address "Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in Back Pain Utilization" and is funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Wessel will assist the project librarian in determining the best CAM terminology and resources to include in their literature review. Wessel’s alternative medicine home page <www.pitt.edu/~cbw/altm.html> receives international recognition as a starting point for locating quality information on complementary and alternative medicine.
