  Formerly the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC), ACHIEVA continues its mission of protecting the rights of and promoting opportunities for children and adults with retardation and other disabilities through advocacy, community services, education and family supports.
 
   AccessiblePA: Online Disability Resource for Pennsylvanians
  This site from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania "combines the latest information on programs and services in one convenient site for people of all ages with disabilities, as well as their families and support providers."
 
   Center for Assistive Technology (CAT)
  A joint program of UPMC Health System and the University of Pittsburgh, CAT is based on UPMC Health System’s Oakland campus in Pittsburgh and offers services at sites throughout the region.
 
   Children's Institute
  The Children's Institute has levels of care for special needs children including a Day School. Their website has information on programs, diagnosis, clinical services, contact information, calendar of events, and outpatient satellite offices.
 
   Disability Resources Monthly(DRM) - Pennsylvania
  Lists many resources for people with disabilities. Some topics include: aging, assistive technology, blindness and visual impairments, deafness and hearing impairments, learning disabilities, and transportation.
 
   Easter Seals of Western Pennsylvania
  Comprehensive rehabilitative services and educational assistance from the local society.
 
   HumanServices.net
  A directory of human services programs in Allegheny County. This is a searchable database that includes a map-based interface that will help you find a service that is close to your home or that of a family member or friend.
 
   Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania
  Funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Education and Welfare "Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania is a network created by families for families with children and adults with special needs. We connect families in similar situations with one another so that they may share experiences, offer practical information and/or advice." Call 800-986-4550 in PA for more information.
 
   Pennsylvania Council on Independent Living
  "The Pennsylvania Council on Independent Living is a statewide, nonprofit, membership organization dedicated to the independence and empowerment of persons with disabilities."
 
   Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council
  With offices in Harrisburg and Wexford, PA, the PADDC provides online publications, updated legislative information and other useful information.
 
   Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation
  "OVR provides services to help persons with disabilities prepare for, start, and maintain employment."
 
   Pennsylvania Parents and Caregivers Resource Network
  PPCRN helps families to form local and regional support networks. Information on how to start a group, fundraising, workshop ideas, advocacy issues and more at this site.
 
   Resource Guide for Women with Disabilities
  From Partners for Accessible Healthcare for Women (PAHW) and the University of Pittsburgh, this site features a list of healthcare providers in Allegheny County. "Recommendations are made by patients who have had positive experiences with the practices/providers. Each office/facility was visited by our staff and found to be user friendly for people with disabilities."
 
   SHHH: Self Help for Hard of Hearing People
  "SHHH opens the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, support and advocacy."
 
   Special Kids Network (SKN)
  From the Pennsylvania Department of Health the SKN "is a new statewide system designed to connect families of children with chronic health or disabling conditions to services and providers." Call toll-free 1-800-986-4550 for more information.
 
   Three Rivers Center for Independent Living
  TRCIL aims "to promote independent living for and by individuals with disabilities; to empower people with disabilities to live self directed, productive, and personally meaningful lives in a self determined setting; and to provide high quality, consumer controlled services and to advocate for effective community change so as to enhance opportunities for people with disabilities."    Tri-County Patriots for Independent Living
  Based in Washington, PA, this organization serves Southwestern PA and promotes independent community living for people with disabilities.
 
   UCP Kids
  From UCP of Pittsburgh, the Unique Community Partnership for Kids (UCP Kids) provides recreational support to kids with and without disabilities, "UCP Kids works with children in Allegheny County from 3 - 21 years of age with various disabilities." Inclusive recreational activities are identified and participation is encouraged with support and teaching techniques for families and group leaders.
 
   UCP of Pittsburgh
  Although it remains the leading source of information on cerebral palsy, UCP now provides services to individuals with severe disabilities and administers the Community Living and Support Services (CLASS) program.
