  Search by state for mental health services and facilities at this site from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

  From the Administrators in Medicine (AIM) Association of State Medical Board Executive Directors, this site is "the only combined public online physician database in the nation that has its direct source of data from state government licensing boards and that also remains free of charge to the public."
 
   Find a Hospice Program
  Search the National Hospice and Paliative Care Organization by state, city or zip code. This site includes information on how to select a hospice program.
 
   Healthcare Coverage Options Database
  Developed by the National Association of Health Underwriters to help uninsured consumers find available options for medical coverage.
 
   Hospital Compare
  At this site from the U.S.Department of Health and Human Services, find and compare hospital quality ratings for a limited number of conditions, such as heart attack and pneumonia. Search for hospitals by zip code, city, county, or state. Also available from www.medicare.gov.
 
   Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAHO)
  Outcomes describe the results of care or treatment. Some insurers or organizations publish outcome data, sometimes called "Report Cards," that indicate the quality of care. One basic quality measurement is accreditation. Hospitals are accredited, or certified, by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAHO). Search by zip code or by name for accredited hospitals using JCAHO's Quality Check search engine.
 
   Medicare Nursing Home Compare
  Medicare provides detailed information about the past performance of nursing homes. Search by county, city or zip code and compare the quality measures of selected nursing homes.
 
   Medicare Participating Physician Directory
  Medicare supplies the names, addresses and specialties of physicians who have agreed to accept Medicare on this site. Search by state, county, city or zip code for a physician.
 
   U.S. News and World Report Health
  The health page, of U.S. News and World Report's web site, contains the magazines's Best Hospitals survey. Using reputation, mortality, technology, nursing care and other factors they rank U.S. hospitals. You will also find the Directory of America's Hospitals on this page. It has facts and figures for more than 6,000 hospitals. Data for the directory was provided by the American Hospital Association (AHA).
