What is the mRNA sequence for the mouse SMN1 gene?

POINT your browser to the NCBI Entrez Gene Web page.

TYPEìSMN1î in the text search box at the top of the page.

Under the text search box, you will find multiple tabs, such as Limits, Preview/Index, History, etc. CLICK the Limits tab.

SELECT ìGene Nameî from the drop down menu near the top of the page to limit your search.

From Limit by Taxonomy SELECT ìMus musculusî to further narrow your search.

CLICK the GO button next to the text search box at the top of the page.

You will be taken to the Entrez Gene page for survival motor neuron 1, SMN1. LOCATE the section titled Genomic regions, transcripts, and products to find the mRNA RefSeq name (NM_011420.1).

Result
  • CLICK on NP_011420.1 and SELECT ìFASTAî to obtain the SMN1 mRNA sequence.
  • NOTE that the record has been replaced with updated information.
  • CLICK on the provided link find the most recent mouse SMN1 Entrez Nucleotide record.
  • SELECT ìFASTAî from the Display menu to see the mRNA sequence.
