   MedlinePlus®
  This is the United States National Library of Medicine's consumer site which provides access to extensive information about specific diseases and conditions. MedlinePlus is a government site, and as such it does not have any commercial interest in the information it provides. It contains information from non-biased and reputable sources. Helpful links to dictionaries, a medical encyclopedia, drug information, organizations, and PubMed (public access to MEDLINE-the national index to medical literature) are in the site's side bar. It can be searched alphabetically or by topic.
 
   NIH: National Institutes of Health
  A government web site that covers a wide range of health information topics.
 
   The Virtual Body
  This site from Merck & Co. takes you through a narrated tour of the body. Along with sound, text is included on the page.

   Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD)
  ACHD contact information along with health tips, local reports and statistics, information on clinics and other services and descriptions and phone numbers for a variety of health programs.
 
   Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Resource Guide: Health
  This site offers a variety of health web sites specific to Pittsburgh and the Southwestern Pennsylvania community.
 
   HumanServices.net
  A directory of human services programs in Allegheny County. This is a searchable database that includes a map-based interface that will help you find a service that is close to your home or that of a family member or friend.
 
   Pennsylvania Department of Health
  Pennsylvania health statistics, information on birth and death certificates, Pennsylvania nursing home and facility locators, Health Information from A-Z, emergency preparedness and much more from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  This site from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services together with other Federal agencies, has been recognized as a key resource for finding the best government and nonprofit health and human services information on the Internet. healthfinder® links to carefully selected information and Web sites from over 1,800 health-related organizations.
 
   LaurusHealth
  This is a comprehensive portal produced by VHA, Inc., a nationwide information and services network of more than 2,200 leading community-owned health care organizations and their affiliated physicians.
 
   MayoClinic.com
  An excellent general health information resource from the Mayo Clinic.
 
   MerckSource Health Information
  Offers information on diseases, conditions and medical news. You can access the Merck Manual Home Edition and printable health forms and records for keeping track of your medications, doctor visits and more.
 
   NOAH: New York Access to Health
  NOAH is a project of The City University of New York, The Metropolitan New York Library Council, The New York Academy of Medicine and The New York Public Library. It includes hundreds of links to health topics, and NOAH can be read in either English or Spanish.
 
   National Organization of Rare Diseases (NORD)
  NORD is part of the National institutes of Health. It summarizes less common diseases, and complete 8-10 page reports can be ordered through NORD at no cost.
 
   Office of Rare Diseases (ORD)
  ORD is part of the National institutes of Health. Here you can find information on more than 6000 rare diseases, including current research, publications from scientific and medical journals, completed research, ongoing studies, and patient support groups.
