Borrowing Privileges

Most resources of the Health Sciences Library System are available for loan to students, staff, and faculty of the University of Pittsburgh and employees of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).  Patrons who are eligible for a University ID must present their valid ID to borrow materials.

Materials not available in the HSLS collections can be borrowed from other libraries through document delivery.

UPMC personnel must initially register by filling out a HSLS Application for Library Services form. Once registered, patrons only need to present their valid UPMC ID to borrow materials.

Borrowing privileges are not transferable.  Pitt and UPMC faculty who wish to have others borrow materials on their behalf should make prior arrangements with circulation staff.

Loan Periods

Books 3 weeks (1 renewal)
Videotapes, audiotapes, and CD-ROMs 1 week (1 renewal)
