The Computer and Media Center (CMC) houses audiovisual and computer resources for the health sciences community of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Windows and Macintosh computers are available for public use as well as the software collection, including general-purpose applications such as word-processing, graphics, spreadsheet, statistics software, video editing, and communications tools for accessing resources on the Internet. There are also available 29 circulating laptops which may be taken from the library during four-hour increments.
The CMC is open to health sciences faculty, students, and staff. The facilities are located in the Falk Library, and identification may be requested to verify either UPMC or University of Pittsburgh affiliation. The CMC staff is qualified to handle most hardware and software assistance based concerns, and the staff can also help faculty identify and then evaluate instructional software and audiovisual materials for incorporation into the curricula of the schools of the health sciences or residency programs.
