Introduction to Vector NTI

Vector NTI Advance is an integrated sequence analysis and data management software package which allows researchers to analyze, manipulate, construct, store, and manage complex biological molecules. This workshop is designed to get you started with brief descriptions of the following major topics:

  • Vector NTI Advance application modules
  • Molecule Viewing Window variations and formatting (Text, Sequence, and Graphics panes)
  • Graphical Display changes (Edit Content and Edit Picture modes)
  • Display setup (Restriction Map, Feature Map, Sequence Pane, Open Reading Frames, and Motifs)
  • Translations and reverse translation
  • Importing DNA or protein molecules from GenBank
  • Use AlignX to perform multiple sequence alignments
  • Use Contig Express to assemble DNA molecules

Participants will learn how to:

  • Use long PCR to create overlapping primers to amplify a large (>20kb) genomic sequence
  • Construct new molecules
  • Design PCR primers
  • Analyze restriction digestions

This class is approved for AMA Category 2 CME credit.
