Pathway Analysis Tools 2
This workshop introduces open access commercial biological pathway informatics tools. Major emphasis will be given to:
- GeneGo's MetaCore: software suite for functional analysis of gene expression and microarray data
- BIOBASE's ExPlain: promotes biological interpretation of high throughput experiments
- Protein Lounge Pathway Builder: tool for drawing signal transduction pathways
Participants will learn how to:

Identify biological interactions among genes of interest

Connect two molecules with the shortest possible path

Import a list of genes to arrange into a pathway

Import Affymatrix gene expression results and display as both a heat map and a pathway map

Find common upstream and downstream regulators of a gene
- Display array results according to subcellular localization

Create signal transduction pathways for presentation
- Find statistically over-represented transcription factor binding sites in differentially expressed genes
