The Only Constant is Change

Falk Library has a new look…again! As the work for the Scaife Hall West Wing continues, additional space adjustments within the library were needed. During the week of October 14, a first floor redesign was implemented, creating over 40 personal workspaces. All workspaces have power options, some include supplemental lighting and shelf space, while others have been outfitted with Windows or Mac technology. Standing desks and table-based seating is also available. The Current and Leisure Reading Collections remain on the first floor, allowing convenient access to the materials.

The upper floor of the library has changed as well, providing break out spaces, study seats, and technology. Opportunities for unique study spaces have been created as new tables in a variety of sizes and configurations have been added. New 47- and 52-inch LCD digital display options are provided in multiple areas, enhancing the library experience. Study carrels previously located on the first floor have been moved upstairs, supported with supplementary power packs available for check out at the Technology Help Desk.

Another change in the library? Additional construction noise. As morning and early afternoon library users can attest, the noise level has increased as the demolition of the Scaife Hall Auditoriums draws near. Ear plugs, readily available at the Main and Technology Help Desks, go a long way in blocking out the noise. Or as we like to call it, the sound of progress!
