In the new millennium, HSLS updated its resources for clinical programs with the addition of Harvey, a life-size Cardiology Patient Simulator capable of modelling 26 cardiovascular conditions.

In 2001, the library’s Computer and Media Center added 15 new Dell Dimension 4100 PCs for public use, each containing an “impressive” 128 megabytes of memory.

The library introduced its reference consultation service in 2001 to assist individual patrons with questions related to library materials. Here, former HSLS Reference Librarian Ammon Ripple provides one of the first consultations for a patron at HSLS.
August 2002
Linda Hartman, former HSLS Reference Librarian, peruses the library’s reference collection in 2002; an updated version of this collection resides in the library today as part of the Current Collection.
April 2003
In 2003, HSLS added this Cobra X-Ray Scanner to its publicly available technology, used to convert a physical x-ray into a digital file.
June 2004
In June 2004, Dr. Arthur Levine appointed Barbara Epstein the new director of HSLS, a position she still holds today.
2005
In spring 2005, the Upper Floor Study Lounge opened. Before its closure in July 2019, it served as a study area, the library’s main exhibit space, a reception and orientation area, and as a flexible nontraditional classroom.
