HSLS Returns to Full Hours and Expanded In-Person Services

Welcome back to HSLS! Starting on August 2, 2021, Falk Library hours will be:

  • Monday–Thursday: 7:00 a.m.–midnight
  • Friday: 7:00 a.m. –10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:30 a.m.–10:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11:00 a.m. –midnight

Visitors to the library may be required to show their valid Pitt ID and will need to follow all University COVID-19 guidelines and best practices , including the wearing of a face mask while in the library.

With the reopening of Falk Library’s upper floor, additional study and technology spaces are now available. As of August 2nd, the library provides 21 individual study carrels, 64 table seats, and adjustable high/standing desks, along with 30 computer and technology seats. Additional study carrels are being added each week. HSLS Virtual Reality will be returning in late August.

HSLS’s wide array of research and information services and resources are available in person and remotely

Research Support: Librarians are available through in person or remote consultation to offer guidance on identifying resources, refining a search strategy, reviewing the literature and developing search methodology.

Molecular Biology Information Service: Bioinformatics specialists are available through in person and remote consultation to offer guidance on licensed software to support next gen sequencing, gene regulation, pathway analysis, microarrays, and genetic variation data analysis.

Data Services: Data librarians are available through in person or remote consultation to help organize and describe your research data, write data management plans, create data visualizations, identify appropriate data repositories, cite datasets accurately, comply with data sharing policies and preserve your data for long-term access.
