The NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing (NIH DMSP) went into effect on January 25, 2023 and requires NIH-funded researchers to prospectively submit a plan outlining how scientific data from their research will be managed and shared.

Audience: Any NIH-funded researcher

Upon completing this class, you should be able to:
  • State the basic expectations of the NIH DMSP and name who assesses the merits of a submitted plan
  • Describe the six required elements of a data management and sharing plan
  • Access the DMPTool and know how to request library feedback
  • Identify allowable costs for data management and sharing
