Librarians spend a lot of time searching online databases -- and not just PubMed! We can generally sit down with a new database and run a pretty good literature search within a very short amount of time. Why? It's because we have learned generalizable skills that can be used in our research databases (and we also practice the skills every chance we get).
Upon completing this class, you should be able to:
- Describe the broad structure of databases and why it is important to know
- Describe the elements of a good research question
- Incorporate a set of generalizable skills when developing searches in online databases.
