The provenance of the small numismatic collection held at Falk Library is unknown. Who collected it, who donated it to the library and how it ended up in the library's offsite storage remains a mystery to uncover.
The collection consists mostly of bronze commemorative medals, with several tokens and one coin, dated between 1466 and 1936, with the majority of the medals belonging to the 19th century. While most numismatic pieces are related to medicine or science, there are a few items that celebrate political events rather than health related subjects. The online exhibit Medical and Scientific Medals at Falk Library presents them all, including the outliers.
