Gesellschaft Deutscher Naturforscher und Ärzte (GDNÄ). The Society of German Natural Scientists and Physicians was founded in 1822 by the physician and natural philosopher, Lorenz Oken. Since the beginning, it was an important forum for fundamental debates in medicine and science. Among the scientists who shaped the society are such personalities as Alexander von Humboldt, Hermann von Helmholtz, Carl Gustav Carus, Albert Einstein and Max Planck.
