Blocks -- Ungapped segments in conserved protein sequences
What you can do:
Search for ungapped segments corresponding to the most highly conserved regions of proteins.
Highlights:
- The Blocks Database consists of blocks constructed from documented families of related proteins by the automated PROTOMAT system.
- As of 2002, it contains 11,853 blocks representing 2,608 protein families documented in InterPro and Prints.
- The tools such as Block Searcher, Get Blocks and Block Maker are aids to detection and verification of protein sequence homology. They compare a protein or DNA sequence to a database of protein blocks, retrieve blocks, and create new blocks, respectively.
Keywords:
- protein sequence alignments
- protein blocks
- conserved protein sequences
- protein motifs
- protein homology
- phylogenetic analysis
