Annotation in three dimensions. PINTS: Patterns in Non-homologous Tertiary Structures

What you can do:
Detect of local structural patterns in proteins.
Highlights:
  • This server allows users to compare a protein structure against a database of patterns or a structural pattern (up to 100 amino acids) against a database of protein structures.
  • In addition, users can compare two proteins to one another.
  • Input format is the normal PDB text format; i.e. users can directly upload structure or -for publicly available structures - specify PDB identifiers and chain.
  • PINTS finds similarities between protein structures consisting of amino acids that are close in space, but not necessarily close or co-linear in sequence (local structural patterns, for example the catalytic triad).
  • Unlike other tools, PINTS does not aim to find proteins adopting a similar fold.
