ExpressionBlast -- Gene Expression Data Search Engine

What you can do:
A search engine for gene expression data.
Highlights:
  • Allows you to compare your own expression results to over 33,000 studies and 800,000 samples currently available at GEO, and find other studies (even across species) that have similar (or opposite) expression patterns to your results.
  • Currently based on an up-to-date public holdings of Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO).
  • We have employed data mining techniques for systematically recognizing gene identifers, identifing and merging technical replicates, identifying and merging treatment vs. control cases (e.g., cancer vs. normal), and analyzing the abstracts attached to each study.
  • We have rescaled each study to a distribution of mean 0 and standard deviation of 1, hence allowing the data to be searchable and comparable across different studies and species.
  • Users are expected to use their differentially expressed genes for comparing their expression results with our pre-calculated holdings.
Keywords:
  • Gene expression
  • GEO
  • Expression patterns
