Charles Pinot Duclos (1704-1772) was born in Brittany and was a French author, linguist, and historian. He became a member of the Académie Française in 1747 and participated in revising its Dictionary, which was published in 1762. He wrote biographies of King Louis XI, XIV, and XV, the latter two not published until after the French Revolution.

He was born in the second half of 18th century, active between 1803 and 1822. Initially, he probably was an apprentice in Piedmont, but later moved to Paris to study and work.
