During the Halloween season in 2013 and 2014, our Painless PubMed class transformed into Undead PubMed, where students performed literature searches for a hospital overrun by zombies.

Ansuman Chattopadhyay (Assistant Director for Molecular Biology Information Services) teaches a class for students in Pitt’s Tsinghua Scholars Program. In this program, medical students from China visit Pitt for two years of rigorous biomedical research training.

In 2015, Falk Library’s lobby gained this glass mosaic of the Cathedral of Learning, created by local artist Daviea Davis as part of her Pillars of Light Project.

Check out this behind-the-scenes picture from Falk Library’s server room. Constructed in 2008 on the library’s upper floor, it houses computer servers that manage HSLS e-resources and other online services.

In 2016, librarians switched up the PubMed class for first year medical students by having students teach each other using the “flipped classroom” model.

October 2017
In the fall of 2017, Falk Library opened a dedicated quiet study area on the main floor with 44 study carrels. Though the area will soon be renovated as part of the Scaife Hall West Wing construction project, the study carrels will remain in the library.
